The project files ending in the .prj extension were never meant to be explicitly "human-readable." That said, the files are simple, valid JSON stored in plain text format. Many JSON viewers will allow reformatting the contents of a project file to better see its contents.Please remember, though, that these files do tend to change. In mid-2.x, for example, the formatting of project options in these files changed completely. We don't make any guarantees concerning the formatting of project files.
