I subscribed to Simply Fortran and the Package Manager a few days ago so this is a newbie question.

I wrote a Fortran program and add my own Module with no problem.

I'm having a problem though figuring out what I need to do to reference a package manager package that I installed.

I tried putting one's name in a USE statement in my program but I get the error that it does not see the Module in my project.

I tried the Module browser in the Simply Fortran IDE but if only sees the Moduels that I wrote.

I know that I need to somehow link my project to one of the installed modules but that's where I'm stuck.

I did not see a doc that talks about referencing modules that the package manage installs.

Does that require manually copy some to the installed Module files into my project folder?

If there is a link that documents this process that I have missed, that should get me started.

We have used MUESLI quite a lot in our programming. Its latest Windows version is for GNU GCC-4.8.1, which means that we are stuck to Simply Fortran version 2.5. We did not quite understand the package manager warning about the mod file type changes. since GNU GCC-4.9.0. Can one use the Package manager with SF 2.5 / GCC-4.8.1?

package manager and other

I applaud your challenge to Intel/Microsoft FORTRAN packages. I bought straight without trial period both basic SF and package manager, and I will give it a good faith try.
1. Having the following trouble with the package manager. It does not work if I put ' -lslatec -llapack -lblas' in the project/option/linker. It complains that it cannot find the required subs. It works fine if I change the order to the following
-llapack -lblas -lslatec. Slatec should go last. What is the story?

2. My problem with the debugging: I want to see the content of 2D array, which is formed by a function. It shows as zero (it is not) in the list of variables even if the cursor is inside of this function, and the array is already fully formed. Watch expression for a particular member, say A(2,3) is also zero. It does show as something regular and expected in the console, when I put WRITE(*,*) A(2,3)

3. The following could be helpful
(a) If I want to debug in a certain place where the cursor is now, I have to start debugging which brings me to line 1, and then find the line of interest again, set a cursor there and let it run to this place. This is awkward. Is there an option which runs to the place where I am now?
(b) Would not it be nice to hover over a variable of interest and see what it is? Both (a) and (b) are features of VS FORTRAN.

It is very likely that it is already there and I do not know how to do it.

Thank you, thank you
Alex Azarkhin
azarkhin@yahoo.com

Problem opening package manager

I have just purchased a copy of SF package manager. I installed the manager and this seemed to proceed smoothly. However, I am unable to use the manager. I continually get "cx_Freeze" Python error in main script" error messages when I try to install a package, update settings sets. Essentially, I cannot perform a task without seeing this message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Steven

Poxy proxy

I note that SFPM copes well with proxy settings.
There's still a slight limitation, though, which I mention in case it can be improved.

When I'm in my office, I have to use a proxy.
Outside the office, I am barred from using the same proxy.
In the past, I learned to pull down the IE Internet options menu, menu, then select connections, then select LAN settings, then tick or un-tick the prox box, and then OK my way all the way back out of the tunnel, which I had to repeat every time I wenr to work, and every time I went home. So very tedious Micro$oft has made all that.

Thankfully, I've been able to dump IE in favour of the much slicker Maxthon.
This has a one-click facility for proxifying and deproxifying. ('Use IE proxy settings' or don't do so).

The limitation with SFPM is that it have to do all the Micro$oft palaver with IE again because SFPM is apparently locked to the EI poxy proxy settings.

Would it be possible to fit an extra switch on the front panel of SFPM to switch this in and out?
---
John

I suggest a date last-updated column.
Also, an option to select between alpha and date sorts.

These would help users to see what's new as well as what has been recently updated.
Because it's already a struggle to read through the list and see what's new.

Alternatively (and I'd guess a lot easier), either a 'what's new' button or else a 'what's new' list in the 'About' function.
---
J.
