I can look into it.  Doing seemingly simple things with the installer tends to be tricky.

When new versions are being installed, not ab initio but as updates, would it be possible for the installer to pick up a record of the previous installation pathname from the host system, to offer this as the initially-suggested re-installation pathname instead of the standard default, and to propose the latter only when installing for the first-time?

How important is this request?  Well, with SF being updated about monthly, I reckon this would add to the free time I can expect still to remain at my disposal during the rest of my life by a current rate of about 45 seconds per year.
