Console screen

As a new user, the IDE was easy to use and the Debugger worked just fine.
However, when executing a   .exe file, made by SF2, outside of the IDE, the
console screen just flashes on and then turns off.
I'm at a loss as to how to keep the console screen on so that it can be written to.
