Topic: SF v3.34 Bld 4153?

Hi Jeff,
I'm having difficultly opening files.f90 or file.prj files from within the file manager in Windows using SF v3.34 (When SF is not open.). I have no problem opening a project from within SF, but I cannot open a project or a f90 file using file manager. In addition, when SF is already open, then I can open files from the Windows file manager. I have selected f90 and prj as the defaults in the properties menu. I didn't experience this with the previous version of SF.  I wonder if anyone else has experienced this same issue. Perhaps it's something specific to my computer settings.  Any suggestions to remedy this problem?

Re: SF v3.34 Bld 4153?

Frank,

It sounds like a bug with managing single Simply Fortran instances.  Try going to Appearance and Behavior options and selecting the "Project Behavior" category.  Uncheck "Open single files in existing window."  That should fix the behavior temporarily while I look into it more.

Incidentally, I can't seem to replicate this behavior on my Windows machine.  Can you provide any additional information?  What version of Windows are you using?

Re: SF v3.34 Bld 4153?

Jeff,

The problem was on my side. I rebooted my computer and the problem went away. I don't know the cause, but SF is working perfectly now. I'm now able to load .f90 and .prj files from the Windows file manager without having to open SF first. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Re: SF v3.34 Bld 4153?

Jeff,

Cause: an instance of fwin.exe was still running as a background process in Task Manager after closing the SF application. I don't know why it remained running, but it prevented the opening of .f90 files in file manager. Once removed from Task Manager, SF works just fine.
