Topic: Post Motherboard Replacement Compile times Long

HI all,

I recently had to replace my motherboard in my development workstation. Post recovery, I notice that my compile to EXE file creation times are long. Previously, it would only take about 10 seconds to compile my code. Now it is on the order (have not actually timed it) of a minute or more. Any ideas as to what is happening. I hope it is not another Microsoft thing where they tie the OS and other programs to the HW.

Thanks,
Rod

Re: Post Motherboard Replacement Compile times Long

Rod,

My best guess is that virus scanning is causing issues.  Can you try disabling "Real-time protection" in Windows Security temporarily to see if the problem disappears?  If you're using a virus scanner other than Microsoft Defender, you might have to take other steps (other scanners tend to cause real problems).

Compilers look extremely suspicious to virus scanners.  The compiler is creating executables seemingly out of nowhere and occasionally replacing executables, actions which virus scanners do not like.
